I watched this documentary on Netflix yesterday and it completely changed how I view SeaWorld, aquariums, etc. It focuses on the captivity of the animals, mainly the killer whales. These whales have killed trainers during shows. SeaWorld continuously makes excuses and keep the whales because they are a main attraction and they bring in income. The whales are put in an environment where they live shorter and unhappier lives, which creates the aggression. Their calves are taken away from them and they LITERALLY cry and scream when it happens. These are intelligent animals. This film has made me focus on issues I’ve never thought about before. You don’t have to be an animal activist, environmentalist, or pro PETA to appreciate and learn from this film. It was really interesting and worth the watch.
